چکیده

For many years it has been realized that ser globulin is not a single homogeneous protein, comprises a variety of proteins which have 4 ferent physical, chemical, and physiological p perties. The salt fractionation methods that h been 'used for many years do not yield fracti which are sharply distinguished one from anot in any properties. A striking example is that the fractionation of diphtheria antitoxic ser with ammonium sulphate; antitoxin is found a series of fractions ranging from that precipita between 30 and 35% saturation to that E cipitated between 52 and 56% saturation (E and Glennie, 1931). During recent years new methods have b used for the separation and study of the E teins of serum and plasma. In particular moving boundary method of electrophoretic an: sis developed by Tiselius (1937) raised great hol for by this method at least five fractions of ( ferent mobility can be recognized in human seru the mobilities of these fractions are distinct E little material of intermediate mobility can 0* 161 IV. Proteins Separation and Purification Methods with Focus on Chromatography: a Review Study

Before describing the structure and mechanism of action of a protein, it must first be subject to purification procedure. Protein purification is a set of processes in which one or a small number of proteins are purified from a complex compound that may be a complete cell, tissue, or organism. Understanding the functions, structural properties, and interactions of the protein are directly re...

BINDING OF NAPROXEN TO SERUM PROTEINS IN PATIENTS WITH LIVER CIRRHOSIS AND HEALTHY INDIVIDUALS

A three-fold decrease of the in vitro ability of serum proteins to bind naproxen was shown in patients with cirrhosis of the liver compared to healthy individuals. This decrease was caused by quantitative changes in serum proteins in the sera of patients with liver damage. Lower doses of naproxen are therefore suggested in the treatment of patients with liver dysfunction.

Characteristics of Potential Protein Biomarkers Extracted with 10% TCA from Blood Serum of Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma and Multiple Myeloma Patients

Blood serum has been extensively explored as a source of the bio-markers [1, 2].  For concentration of minor protein(s) and depletion of abundant blood serum proteins a 2,2,2-trichloroacetic acid (TCA) precipitation procedure is frequently applied [3]. However, a significant amount of proteins may be present in the TCA extracts, and these proteins are often not studied.Recently, we have sh...
